In 1982, a zookeeper at the Izu Shaboten Zoo in Shizuoka Prefecture discovered by accident that capybaras love soaking in hot water, leading to the tradition of giving them their own onsen. These baths often include yuzu citrus, as it's believed that bathing with yuzu brings good health. That's why capybaras are often seen with yuzu on their heads during their baths, following this Japanese tradition.
